Insight

My wife and I recently visited our alma mater. When we stopped by the local bakery we found the same old woman who had been behind the counter when we were in school. She said she'd been working in the store for thirty years now, selling whole-wheat donuts. When I gently asked her if she planned to retire, she told me that when you find something that you enjoy, there's no reason to quit just because people think you look old. "I'll feel old when people stop shopping in my store," she said and smiled as we paid for our lunch.

Composer, Audio Video Editor, Sound Design, and Engineering
3D pre-visualization, 3D animation, video games, Flash animation

Michael's work experience began at Looking Glass Technologies. He found himself in a roomful of MIT grads whose favorite game was "who's the smartest person in the room." Many artists might have felt intimidated, but luckily, his dad worked for IBM so computer jargon didn't scare him. He started asking questions, and it helped him get work on System Shock and Flight Unlimited.

He also worked for 3DO in California, developing games for Playstation, Game Boy and Nintendo. Demo Reels

    Insight

Out of enthusiasm, I began asking the other artists about their work and giving (unsolicited) advice on solving their problems. One day, they got together and moved my desk away from the rest of the group. The lesson learned - be smart and enthusiastic, but remember to listen too.

Steven Maberry

AVdrive director of Audio Production/Recording Engineer/ Producer
Steven began with a love of music.  A close friend of his parents saw his passion and asked him to help out with some live sound. Since then he has moved from Live Sound to the Studio, obtained a degree in Music Technology, and has many projects under his belt.

Trained in various styles of production/engineering, he loves to capture both the purpose and the passion that is behind every piece of music, draw from that, and create something the artist and the world will love and remember forever.

Working professionally on projects since 1996 Stevens strengths include Music (albums/singles/demos), Film Scoring, ADR, Foley, and Sound for Picture Editing. He is one who is up for doing what ever it takes, to capture the purest sound for a project. If that means recording in a bathroom, subway, warehouse, etc. then that’s what he will do. He has owned and operated a Recording Studio since 2003, worked as Studio Manager for a Prominent University Recording Studio, and freelanced on various projects in various genres.

QUOTE – I think life was simpler before I had my BA degree, there were less expectations and I could just live.  With higher education a person is trained to believe anything is available. With this in my head I cant help but strive for something even greater in everything I do.

You pick it, I stick it.  -(movie) Son-In-Law 1993.

Jane Gussin

PDF Print E-mail

Director, Broadcast and Film Graphics Designer,
Digital Photo-Illustrator

Jane was raised at the knee of an art director and as a child ran freely through NYC's largest TV commercial production company. She feels equally at home designing art and graphics, as being part of the team in a live-action film or video production.

Her credits include art directing and digitally illustrating the farcical movie titles for "Tony N' Tina's Wedding" the movie, soon to be released. She's created segment graphics and directed opening titles sequences collaging live-action and graphics for Oxygen and HBO Family. She digitally designed on-air promos and children's animation for Nickelodeon. She also created tasteful presentations for toy and gift product design for Hersheys and numerous food chains. We're hoping she'll bring back some samples.

Insight

Jane's inspiration comes from nature, super-saturated colors, the infinite nuances of light and randomly juxtaposed scenarios. Connections between unlikely sources create collisions, new ideas, and witty riffs that are transformed into arresting compositions of shape, color, and typography.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes but in having new eyes. - Proust

Kevin Harkins

Composer, Audio Video Editor, Sound Design, and Engineering

Kevin’s expertise ranges from composing music for film and modern dance to video installations and theatrical lighting design.

He supervised the installation of one of the country’s largest video walls for Kodak, constructed the rigging for Microsoft’s annual convention, and was production/technical director for the National Governors Association.

Kevin has constructed elaborate lighting, audio and video installations for some of the world’s leading names in fashion and music, including Donna Karen, Rod Stewart, U2, and Hugo Boss.

Not content to limit himself to technical projects for large corporations, he spent six seasons designing stage lighting and composing music for the Ballet Bellevue and five for the Olympic Ballet. Productions included The Jazz Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Venus in Furs, and Peter and the Wolf.

Insight
Kevin is a perfectionist. One day, everyone in the ballet troupe he was working with kept missing their marks during rehearsal. He kept scolding them for making mistakes, but the errors continued. Finally, he realized that they were professionals, having a bad day, and that they would perform well when it counted. The best way to stop the errors was to keep quiet. Sometimes, the right thing to say is nothing at all.
