Film / Video Services

Whether you need long-form video, a movie, or a 30-second spot for TV or or the Web, we can provide services from initial concept to finished product and turn your big ideas into reality.

Pre-Production

We have a talented staff of graphic artists, broadcast designers, video shooters, sound editors, etc. We set these creative elements in motion early-on to avoid nasty surprises later-on. The pre-production process is where we digest a project and determine how all the pieces will ultimately fit together. Creativity runs amok at this time and it pays off down the road.

Production

From composing a frame to optimizing audio levels, AVdrive shoots with the finished cut in mind. We pay equal attention to both picture and sound. We can mobilize an army or just a handful of professionals. We can shoot with high-end HD or basic DV. We can glide the camera along on a dolly, move it on a steadicam, lift it up in the air with a gib arm, or keep it steady on a tripod. We can employ a sound-proof studio or just shoot on location. Everything depends on the requirements of the production. We set a target for each day of production and we work efficiently to hit that target.

Post Production

Cutting a picture requires attention to every detail in the frame. Mixing the audio requires attention to every nuance in the soundscape. Post-production is a full-service process that covers motion graphics, sound design, ADR, color correction, and more.

A Case Study

Controversial Measures

Message: This historical documentary, the first in a series about Oregon social politics, charts the state's history of capital punishment. For more than 100 years, this independently-minded state has been a battleground for advocates on both sides of this contentious issue. Controversial Measures explores the powerful history of Oregon's most severe punishment for murder.

Media: The film was shot with a broadcast quality camera (the Sony DSR-570), edited with Final Cut Pro, and encoded for commercial sales with DVD Studio Pro. The movie's producer, Uri Ruttenberg, ensured high production values at every step along the way.

Results: The high production values earned a coveted spot on Oregon Public Broadcasting's primetime lineup where it debuted to the world. Since then it has been available for DVD sales.
